WOW!!! schon so weit ihm Jahr!!! Ich persönlich stecke noch immer im September oder Oktober fest - gedanklich. Um so mehr verwirrt mich dieser ganze Weihnachtskram hier. Es ist wirklich schon 24 Tage her, seit ich den letzten Eintrag hier geschrieben habe und irgendwie ist seitdem nicht wirklich was passiert. Also fasse ich mal die News zusammen.

Roberta hat mir ein Auto angeboten. Sie hat das zufällig rumstehen und hat sich überlegt, dass ich es ja fahren kann, solange ich hier bin. Ich hab zugesagt, aber ganz ehrlich, ich weiß noch nicht genau, wie das gehen soll - auf der linken Straßenseite fahren! Bisher hab ich das Auto ja noch nicht. Es steht noch bei Roberta in Wicklow und ich möchte erst ein bisschen fahren üben, bevor ich es hier mit hin bringe. Jedenfalls hab ich schon ne Anfrage, ob wir nicht mal nach Galway fahren wollen. Würde sich ja anbieten.

Die beiden Wochenenden vor meinem Geburtstag hab ich nicht viel gemacht. Wir waren nur in einer Gallerie in Dublin und sind ein bisschen durch die Stadt gelaufen. Außerdem hab ich mit Millie einen wahnsinnig langen Sparziergang gemacht. Wir sind bis nach Seapoint gelaufen. Das ist die zweite Dartstation nach Dun Laoghaire und ganz schön weit. Jedenfalls war Millie fix und fertig, als wir wiederkamen und ich hab noch zwei andere au-pairs in Dun Laoghaire getroffen und mich mit ihnen in ein Cafe gesetzt.
Es ist jedenfalls der Wahnsinn, wie viel am Wochenende in Dublin los ist. Da kriegt man kaum einen Fuß auf den Boden. Immerhin haben die hier zwei Wochenendtage, um einkaufen zu gehen. Was können die ständig da wollen?

Am Donnerstag vor meinem Geburtstag habe ich mit Gigi und Sophia schon mal einen Kuchen gebacken, den wir dann auch wirklich hart verteidigen mussten, damit er bis zum Samstag noch da war. Das Problem daran war, dass wir keine Kuchenform hatten, sondern nur ein Backblech, wenn wir nicht schon wieder Muffins machen wollten. Sinead hat am Freitag noch einen Kuchen von Marks & Spencer mitgebracht (das ist so ne art edel-supermarkt), der sehr niedlich aussah und auch ganz gut schmeckte, wenn man bedenkt, dass es sich um einen fertigkuchen handelte. Nichtsdestotrotz war der selbstgebackene Kuchen zwei Tage eher aufgegessen, als der gekaufte. Da war nämlich überall wahnsinnig süßer Zuckerguss oder so drauf. Ich kann leider das englische Wort “icing” nicht genau übersetzen.

An meinem Geburtstag musste ich dummerweise den ganzen Tag über arbeiten. Roberta und Louise haben Patricia auf eine Hochzeit begleitet und ich bin mit Gigi und Sophia zu einem Rugbyspiel von Patrick gefahren. Sein Team hat haushoch gewonnen - wie immer, wenn ich dabei bin, aber es war wahnsinnig kalt. Danach standen wir dann einsam und verlassen bei dem Spielfeld und wussten dummerweise den Weg zur nächsten Dart-station nicht. Also mussten wir uns erstmal durchfragen. Wir haben die Dart auch gefunden, aber da der Kerl, der die Tickets verkauft nicht verstanden hat, dass ich 3 Kinderfahrkarten wollte und eine für erwachsene und dass ich die alle OHNE Rückfahrt wollte, war die nächste Dart schon weg und wir mussten noch 20 Minuten in der Kälte warten. Immerhin halten alle Züge, die aus Dublin Richtung Dun Laoghaire fahren auch da, sonst hätten wir nämlich noch 10 Minuten länger warten dürfen.

Ich war am Tag vorher mit ihr beim Sehtest und sie hat sich zwei Brillen ausgesucht, die an dem Tag fertig waren und sie sieht damit sehr niedlich aus, auch wenn Patrick sie erstmal als “nerd” bezeichnet hat, was in dem Zusammenhang “Brillenschlange” bedeutet und daraufhin hat sie Patrick “freckleface” genannt - Sommersprossengesicht!
Als wir wieder zuhause waren, haben wir erstmal die Küche aufgeräumt und Mittag gegessen, weil wir am morgen geweckt wurden mit “in 10 Minuten fahren wir los!” was natürlich nicht der Fall war, aber gefrühstückt haben wir trotzdem nicht wirklich. In der Eile haben auch alle meinen Geburtstag vergessen und Gigi war die einzige, die dran gedacht hat. Allerdings war sie nicht die erste, die mir gratuliert hat, sondern Golo, der mich um Mitternacht (unsere Zeit, also 1 Uhr bei euch) angerufen hat, um mir zu gratulieren. Zum Glück hab ich da noch nicht geschlafen.
Danach hab ich verschiedene Anrufe entgegengenommen und nachdem Patrick Omi am Telefon hatte und niemand den anderen verstanden hat. Als Sinead dann vom reiten wieder da war und ich unter die Dusche gegangen bin, hab ich Patrick beigebracht, zu sagen “Jenni ist nicht da”, damit überhaupt jemand irgendwas versteht. Er musste es zum Glück nicht benutzen. Anschließend hab ich das Paket aufgemacht und die Geschenke nach oben in die Küche getragen, wo Sinead versucht hat, Fotos von mir und den Geschenken zu machen. Dummerweise waren gerade alle Batterien leer, die wir finden konnten - war klar, oder?
Danach hab ich dann die Geschenke aufgemacht und Patrick hat das Geschenkpapier vernichtet, welches ich sowieso schon zerreißen musste, weil Sinead so gedrängelt hat, weil sie es eilig hatte. Und wer mich kennt, weiß ja, dass ich Geschenke immer ganz vorsichtig aufmache, um das Papier NICHT zu zerreißen. Das konnte Sinead irgendwie gar nicht haben, weil ihr das VIEL zu lange dauerte. Tut es ja auch…
Jedenfalls haben wir danach die Kuchen angeschnitten und Patrick wollte sofort das Stativ für meine Kamera ausprobieren, wobei allerdings die meisten Fotos, die er gemacht hat, voll schrecklich geworden sind. Entweder waren nur Füße drauf oder nur ein Oberkörper oder sonst was. Er hat irgendwie nicht so viel Talent zum Fotografieren. Das hab ich schon vorher gemerkt, als er versucht hat, Gigi und mich bei unserer Akrobatik zu fotografieren.
Für Abends hatte ich Anna und Katharina eingeladen und wir haben oben gesessen, während die Kinder unten fern gesehen haben. Sinead hatte nämlich irgendeine Dinnerparty oder so, also musste ich Babysitten. Zum Glück haben sie sich einigermaßen vertragen und waren alle schön müde, als ich sie ins Bett gebracht habe. Insgesamt war es ein ganz angenehmer Abend, auch wenn ich nicht wirklich das Gefühl hatte, dass es mein Geburtstag war.

Roberta, Patrick und Gigi sind noch bis Mittwoch abend bei uns geblieben und haben hier echt alles auf den Kopf gestellt. Wer von euch meine ehemalige Mitbewohnerin in Paderborn nicht kennt, hat noch nie so unordentliche Leute gesehen. Die haben alles stehen und liegen gelassen, wo sie gerade waren und haben überall immer das Licht an gelassen. Ich bin jeden Morgen durch alle Zimmer gegangen und hab das Licht ausgemacht! Wenigstens hat Sinead am Sonntag die Kinder ans Arbeiten gekriegt. Sophia hat das Wohnzimmer unten aufgeräumt (zumindest ein bisschen) und Gigi hat ganz allein die ganze Küche saubergemacht. Mittlerweile versuche ich auch, die Kinder so zu erziehen, dass Sophia den Tisch deckt und Gigi nach dem Essen ihre und Sophias Sachen in den Geschirrspühler stellt. Allerdings klappt das noch nicht so ganz. So schön es auch war, die alle hier zu haben, hatte ich auch nichts dagegen, als sie wieder weggefahren waren.
Während sie hier war haben Gigi und ich uns jede Menge neue Akrobatikübungen ausgedacht und Sophia hat versucht, sie zu fotographieren, allerdings hat sie meistens Köpfe, Arme oder Beine abgeschnitten oder nur die Köpfe fotografiert und das wichtige weggelassen. Das muss ich mit ihr nochmal üben. Sie ist übrigends mein “Ausprobierkind”. Die ist so leicht, dass ich Gigi an ihr alle Übungen zeige, die ich mit ihr machen will. Außerdem kann man Sophia leichter auffangen, wenn sie einem runterfällt.

Ach ja, ihr wundert euch sicher, warum ich plötzlich Umlaute benutze!!! Ich habe seit Dienstag meinen neuen schicken roten Dell-Laptop mit deutscher Tastatur! Er ist bisher total lieb zu mir und arbeitet schnell und genau so, wie ich es von ihm verlange. Vielleicht habe ich nur dann einen schlechten Einfluss auf Computer, wenn ich das Windows selbst installiere. Wer weiß?

Seit gestern ist in Booterstown die Eisbahn geöffnet und ich muss mal ein bisschen drängeln, damit meine Freundinnen da auch mit hinkommen. Ist zwar total teuer, aber es lohnt sich bestimmt. Ich glaube, ich versuche mal in der Woche nachmittags da hin zu fahren. Keine Ahnung, wo ich die Zeit her nehmen will. Ach ja, apropos Weihnachten: Manchmal spinnen die Iren irgendwie. Hier haben die meisten Leute künstliche Tannenbäume - zum Beispiel meine Familie. Vorletzte Woche sind die losgefahren, um einen DRITTEN Tannenbaum zu kaufen, weil ja einer ins Wohnzimmer, einer auf den oberen Treppenabsatz und einer ins Esszimmer kommt. Der neue wurde auch sogleich im Esszimmer aufgestellt und ich hab ihn letzte Woche mit Gigi und Sophia geschmückt, weil hier am 1. Dezember alle Weihnachtsbäume angemacht werden. Zum Glück haben unsere Bäume alle weiße Lichter. Die am Esszimmerbaum blinken alle, was einem bestimmt total schnell auf die nerven geht. Zusätzlich hat Sinead auch noch Girlanden und Konfetti und jede Menge anderen Kram gekauft, mit dem ich das Haus dekorieren soll. Keine Ahnung, wie aber ich soll das machen. Wenns nach mir ginge, würden hier echte Tannenzweige verwendet und viele Kerzen und schöne weiße Lichter oder so was, aber irgendwie gibts das hier nicht.

Allerdings ist die “Weihnachtsbeleuchtung” auf der Straße total hässlich. Da hängen so Lichterketten mit bunten Glühbirnen, die immer abwechselnd blinken. Das ist SOOO hässlich und erinnert mich eher an irgendein Volksfest als an Weihnachten.
Übrigends haben die hier total die seltsamen Bräuche, wenn es um die Weihnachtsbeleuchtung geht. Hier gibt es jedes Jahr so eine Art Fest, wenn die Beleuchtung zum ersten mal angeschaltet wird.
