so, jetzt erfahrt ihr etwas ueber die Iren in General. Jedenfalls das, was ich bisher so rausgefunden habe. Ich hab allerdings schon so viel rausgefunden, dass ich das in zwei oder drei Beitraege packe.

Hoeflichkeit und Wortwahl

Der erste Unterschied ist natuerlich der offensichtliche. Iren sind wahnsinnig hoeflich. Sie sagen immer “Bitte” (please), “Danke” (thank you), “Entschuldigung” (sorry) und den ganzen anderen Hoeflichkeitskram. Auch immer dieses “How are you?” und man muss immer mit “fine, thank you” oder so antworten. Das haben die wohl einfach so drin. Ich komm mir da schon richtig unhoeflich vor, obwohl ich staendig versuche, noch ein bitte oder danke oder so in meine Saetze zu basteln.
Außerdem ist hier alles „gorgeous“ oder „lovely“. Das sind so die am haeufigsten gebrauchten Woerter. Außerdem wird man hier fuer alles gelobt. Ich wurde noch nie so viel gelobt. Nicht mal damals im Franzoesisch Unterricht bei Herrn Manns. Die erzaehlen mir hier bei jedem Handschlag den ich mache, dass ich ja so ein „good girl“ bin.
Außerdem fluchen die hier kaum. Ich hab wirklich noch keinen aus der ganzen Familie fluchen gehoert. Ein Glueck, dass ich nicht so gut auf Englisch fluchen kann. Also tu ichs nur manchmal auf Deutsch, wenn außer den Hunden keiner dabei ist.

Dart fahren

Also abgesehen davon, dass die Dart die einzige Straßenbahn in Irland ist (wie Rebi mir ja schon erzaehlt hat), ist sie sogar – im Gegensatz zu den Bussen, die ich ncoh nciht ausprobiert habe – immer puenktlich. Die haben da auch so Anzeigetafeln, wie die an den Bushaltestellen in Paderborn, die anzeigen, wie lange es ncoh dauert, bis die Dart ankommt. Das lustigste am Dart fahren ist aber, wie hier die Fahrkarten kontrolliert werden. Es ist halt nicht so, dass man sich ne Karte zieht und dann im Zug kontrolliert wird (oder eben auch nciht), sondern man muss durch so drehkreuze gehen, die einen nur mit einer gueltigen Karte durchlassen – und das sowohl rein, als auch raus. Find ich extrem lustig. Außerdem frag ich mich fast, warum da in good old Germany noch keiner drauf gekommen ist. Das ist doch eigentlcih ganz simpel. Da haengen zwar trotzdem solche Plakate, die vorm Schwarzfahren warnen, aber hier ist es im Vergleich zu Deutschland ja echt „schwierig“.
Ich bin zwar ncoh nicht mit Bus gefahren, aber ich hab mir sagen lassen, dass man da vorher genau wissen muss, wie viele Stationen man fahren moechte. Die haben naemlich nicht alle Namen. Also steigt man da ein und sagt dem Fahrer direkt den Preis fuer die Strecke, die man fahren moechte. Fragt mich jetzt nicht, woher man den Preis weiß, das hab ich mich auch schon gefragt.
Uebrigends fahren hier nur diese Zweistoeckigen Riesenbusse, die in jeder Kurve umzufallen scheinen. Die rasen hier nur so durch.

Ich war jetzt ja einmal an einem Freitag abend und einmal Samstag nachmittags da und es war beide male so voll, wie in Minden an einem verkaufsoffenen Sonntag (fuer alle die nicht wissen wie das ist: Das ist echt VOLL!). Vor allem aber stehen auf den Straßen dann immer so Gruppen um Leute rum, weil da ueberall so „Kleinkuenstler“ stehen. Das sind entweder Leute, die so Statuen spielen oder es gibt da einen Tangotaenzer, der mit so einer Puppe tanzt, deren Fueße an seinen Fueßen angebunden sind und ich glaube den Kopf bedient er mit der Hand auf dem Ruecken der Puppe. Ist jedenfalls relativ cool. Allerdings darf man sich da wohl von niemandem ansprechen lassen.

Kneipen

Jetzt komm ich mal zu den Pubs und Bars. Als wir letzten Freitag da waren, war es natuerlich extrem voll, weil gerade ein Rugby-Spiel (Frankreich gegen Irland, Frankreich hat gewonnen) im Fernsehen uebertragen wurde.
